Not Sure Whether It's the AC, Heater, Thermostat, or Airflow?

A lot of HVAC complaints don't point to one obvious cause. "The house won't get comfortable" could be the air conditioner, the heating side, a thermostat or wiring issue, an airflow restriction, the blower, or a control problem — and sometimes several of those overlap.

That's why we approach it as a system-level diagnostic. We evaluate the full heating and cooling system, test the components and conditions related to your complaint, and base the recommendation on what we actually find — not a guess.

What Is Your HVAC System Doing?

Any of these may point to a repairable issue. Several of them can have more than one possible cause, which is why inspection matters.

HVAC system will not turn on
System starts and stops repeatedly
Weak airflow
Uneven temperatures
Thermostat not controlling equipment
Unusual noises
Burning or electrical odor
Blower runs incorrectly
Heating works but cooling does not
Cooling works but heating does not
Heat pump not switching modes correctly
System runs continuously
Breaker trips
Water or drainage concerns
Comfort has noticeably changed

Diagnostic Service Fee — $75

Our current HVAC diagnostic/service fee is $75. The fee covers diagnosing the system, identifying the issue, and providing a repair estimate. If you proceed with the approved repair, the diagnostic fee is applied toward the repair according to current company policy. This is a diagnostic visit — not a "free estimate."

HVAC Repair Categories

Organized by system area, not by a single interchangeable parts list. Each links to a dedicated authority page where one exists.

Cooling System Problems

If the issue is specifically that your air conditioner isn't cooling, blowing warm air, or freezing, our AC Repair page covers cooling-specific diagnosis in detail.

AC Repair

Heating System Problems

System not producing heat, heat pump not heating properly, furnace or control problems, heating airflow or cycling.

Heating Repair

Heat Pump Problems

Mode switching, defrost operation, auxiliary heat, airflow, and control issues that can affect both heating and cooling from one unit.

Heat Pump Repair

Thermostat & Control Problems

Thermostat configuration, wiring, C-wire requirements, equipment staging, heat-pump and auxiliary-heat settings. As a Google Nest Pro we handle compatibility, setup, and testing.

Google Nest Pro

Airflow & Blower Problems

Weak airflow, blower operation, restrictions, and uneven comfort. Several conditions can produce similar symptoms, so we inspect rather than assume it's the ducts or the blower.

Electrical / System Operation

Possible electrical faults, control-board issues, capacitor or contactor issues, wiring faults, and breaker-related symptoms. Electrical diagnosis is professional work — we inspect, we don't walk you through DIY repair.

What Happens During an HVAC Service Visit

1

You explain the concern

Tell us what the system is doing — and when it started.

2

We evaluate the system

The technician inspects the heating and cooling equipment, controls, and relevant operating conditions.

3

We test what's related to the complaint

Components and conditions tied to your symptom are tested — not a fixed checklist for every job.

4

We identify the likely source

Findings are based on what the tests show.

5

We explain the findings

You get a clear explanation in plain language.

6

We provide repair options and investment

Pricing is explained before any work begins.

7

We proceed only after your authorization

Nothing is repaired or replaced until you say go.

Not every test applies to every job — the technician runs the checks relevant to your complaint and system.

What Happens After Diagnosis

Once the source is identified, we explain the findings in plain language and present your options. That may be a specific repair, a maintenance or service recommendation, further evaluation, or — when repair is no longer the reasonable investment — a replacement discussion. You see the repair investment before any work begins, and nothing is repaired or replaced until you approve it.

Repair vs Replacement

We don't push replacement. When you're weighing it, we look at the system's condition, age, repair history, the current repair investment, reliability, comfort, efficiency, safety, and parts availability — then help you decide whether repair or replacement is the more reasonable investment.

If replacement does become the right call, we're a YORK® dealer and can help you explore equipment that fits your home and budget — without pressuring you into it.

Factors We Consider

  • Equipment age
  • Current condition
  • Repair history
  • Current repair investment
  • Reliability
  • Comfort
  • Efficiency
  • Safety
  • Parts availability
  • Your long-term plans

Free Replacement Estimates

Complete HVAC system replacement estimates are free when the visit is specifically for gathering replacement information — evaluating your needs, taking pictures, and preparing a replacement proposal. That's different from a diagnostic visit, which addresses an existing system problem. Tell us which type of visit you need when you schedule.

Preventive Maintenance — $75 Tune-Up

A seasonal tune-up helps catch worn components, dirty coils, and airflow issues before they turn into a repair call. It's distinct from a diagnostic visit — maintenance keeps a working system running; a diagnostic finds out why a struggling one isn't.
