Google Nest Pro HVAC Services
Islas Heating & Cooling is a Google Nest Pro. We install and configure compatible Google Nest thermostats with your HVAC system — including compatibility checks, wiring evaluation, heat-pump and dual-fuel configuration where applicable, and full system testing. Serving the Inland Empire.
What Google Nest Pro Means for Islas Customers
Islas Heating & Cooling is a Google Nest Pro. As a Nest Pro, we focus on professional, HVAC-focused thermostat installation — not just mounting a device on the wall.
That includes equipment compatibility review, wiring and configuration considerations, heat-pump and control setup, and system testing after installation. We make sure your HVAC equipment is configured correctly so the Nest actually controls your system the way it was designed to.
Nest Pros are independent companies and are not employees of Google. This website is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.

A Nest Must Be Compatible With Your HVAC System
A thermostat is not a universal part. It must be compatible with your HVAC equipment and control architecture. Compatibility may depend on system type, wiring, voltage, heating and cooling stages, heat-pump configuration, auxiliary heat, dual fuel, communicating controls, and accessories. We evaluate the specific system before recommending a thermostat change — we do not assume compatibility.
System Type
Central AC, furnace, heat pump, packaged unit, or mini split — each has different control requirements.
Wiring
Existing thermostat wiring determines what power and control signals are available at the thermostat.
Voltage / Control Architecture
24V conventional, line-voltage, or communicating controls each affect thermostat selection.
Heating / Cooling Stages
Single-stage, two-stage, or multi-stage equipment may require a thermostat that supports those stages.
Heat-Pump Configuration
O/B control, auxiliary heat, and emergency heat behavior depend on the heat-pump setup.
Communicating Controls
Some systems use proprietary communicating architectures that may not work with a conventional smart thermostat.
We do not state that Google Nest works with every HVAC system. Compatibility is evaluated on-site based on the actual equipment and wiring.
HVAC System Types & Control Considerations
Different HVAC equipment has different control requirements. Here's how system type influences thermostat compatibility.
Central Air Conditioning
Conventional split AC with a furnace or air handler. Most 24V systems are candidates for compatibility review.
Gas Furnace
Furnace heating with central AC. Wiring and staging must be reviewed before a thermostat change.
Heat Pump
Heating and cooling from one unit. Heat-pump configuration (O/B, auxiliary heat, emergency heat) must be set correctly.
Packaged Unit
All-in-one rooftop or ground package systems. Control architecture varies by model.
C-Wire Considerations
Some thermostat installations may require a common wire (C-wire) or another compatible power solution depending on the existing wiring and equipment. A C-wire can provide steady power to a smart thermostat.
We do not say every Nest installation requires a C-wire, and we do not tell homeowners to bypass or modify system wiring themselves. We evaluate the wiring on-site and explain the options.
No DIY internal wiring instructions are provided on this page. Wiring should be reviewed by a qualified professional.
Nest Power Connector
A Nest Power Connector may be relevant in some compatible installations where traditional thermostat wiring does not provide the required power arrangement. Whether it applies depends on your specific system and wiring.
We do not claim a Nest Power Connector works with every HVAC system, and we do not provide DIY installation procedures. We review whether it's appropriate for your equipment during the compatibility check.
Product availability and support details should be confirmed with current Google Nest documentation.
Heat Pumps, Auxiliary Heat & Emergency Heat
Nest configuration can matter significantly on heat-pump systems. Correct setup helps the thermostat control heating, cooling, and backup heat as designed.
Heat-Pump Mode & O/B
Heat-pump systems use an O/B control signal to switch between heating and cooling. Correct configuration depends on the specific equipment. We configure and test this during installation.
Auxiliary Heat
Auxiliary heat behavior depends on the equipment, thermostat configuration, system design, and operating conditions. Auxiliary heat engaging is not automatically a malfunction — it can be normal operation.
Emergency Heat
Emergency heat is a specific operating mode. We do not encourage homeowners to randomly change advanced installer settings. Configuration is set and tested during professional installation.
Detailed heat-pump system selection belongs on the Heat Pump Installation page. Active heat-pump malfunctions belong on the Heat Pump Repair page.
Dual-Fuel Systems
A dual-fuel system may pair heat-pump heating with furnace heating. Correct thermostat and control configuration matters for safe, efficient operation. We do not claim every dual-fuel system is Nest-compatible — compatibility must be evaluated based on the actual system and controls.
Multi-Stage Equipment
Some HVAC equipment is single-stage, two-stage, or variable-capacity / modulating. Thermostat and control requirements vary by stage. We do not claim every Nest thermostat supports every stage or configuration — we use cautious, equipment-specific wording.
Communicating HVAC Systems
Some communicating HVAC systems use control architectures that may not be compatible with a conventional smart thermostat without changing how the system is controlled. We review the specific equipment before recommending a thermostat change — we do not claim a traditional Nest can universally replace a communicating control. This is especially important for premium equipment.
Conventional HVAC Systems
Many conventional 24V systems are candidates for compatibility review. Even so, wiring, staging, and heat-pump configuration still need to be verified on-site before installation.
Google Nest + YORK® Equipment
Islas Heating & Cooling is both a YORK® Dealer and a Google Nest Pro. When a YORK® system is installed, we can discuss smart thermostat compatibility — including wiring, C-wire, heat-pump configuration, auxiliary heat, staging where applicable, and setup and testing.
Compatibility depends on the specific YORK® equipment and control architecture. We do not claim all YORK® systems work with every Nest thermostat.

Nest & Ductless Mini Splits
Ductless mini-split systems often use manufacturer-specific controls. A traditional Google Nest thermostat is not universally compatible with ductless mini-split equipment. Nest compatibility depends on the particular equipment and control interface — not every mini split can integrate with a Nest.

We do not provide DIY wiring instructions. Thermostat installation involves HVAC and electrical wiring that should be handled by a qualified professional.
Existing HVAC Problem vs Thermostat Project
HVAC System Not Heating or Cooling Correctly
If your HVAC system is not heating or cooling properly, the cause could be the thermostat, wiring, the equipment itself, electrical conditions, or system configuration. Start with a $75 diagnostic / service visit. We do not assume a thermostat replacement will fix an HVAC problem.
Start With a Diagnostic VisitYou Want a Thermostat Installed / Compatibility Review
If you intentionally want a Nest thermostat installed or a compatibility evaluation, stay on the Google Nest Pro pathway. This is a thermostat project — not a free diagnostic visit. Contact us for project-specific thermostat installation information.
Request Nest Thermostat ServiceA thermostat project is not a free diagnostic. Diagnostic troubleshooting of an existing HVAC problem is a separate $75 service visit.
When a Nest Fits a Larger Project
HVAC Replacement
For a new complete-system project, Nest / control selection can be considered as part of equipment selection where compatible.
Explore ReplacementAC Installation
For cooling-system projects, thermostat / control integration is part of installation planning.
AC InstallationHVAC Maintenance
A $75 maintenance tune-up may review thermostat / control operation where applicable, but it is not automatically a Nest installation appointment.
HVAC MaintenanceWhy Professional Thermostat Installation Matters
A smart thermostat is only as good as its configuration. Improper wiring or incorrect heat-pump setup can cause comfort problems, short cycling, or unnecessary wear on your equipment. A correctly configured thermostat can support proper HVAC operation and scheduling, but actual energy use depends on equipment, settings, weather, home characteristics, and usage — we make no guaranteed-savings claims.
