Is Your AC Having One of These Problems?

These symptoms can have several possible causes. A technician needs to inspect and test the system to determine the actual problem — we don't guess.

AC blowing warm air
AC running but the house isn't cooling
AC won't turn on
Weak airflow from the vents
AC turns on and off repeatedly (short cycling)
Frozen indoor coil
Outdoor unit not running
Unusual sounds
Burning or electrical smell
Water around the indoor equipment
Thermostat not controlling the system correctly
Some rooms stay uncomfortable

We Diagnose Before We Recommend

An air-conditioning symptom — warm air, weak airflow, short cycling, or a system that won't start — can come from more than one part of the system. That's why we evaluate the whole cooling system, test the relevant components, and base our recommendation on what we actually find.

You get clear findings and honest options — repair when it makes sense, replacement when the system's condition makes it the more reasonable investment. No pressure, no guesswork.

Diagnostic Service Fee — $75

Our current HVAC diagnostic/service fee is $75. The fee covers diagnosing the system, identifying the issue, and providing a repair estimate. If you proceed with the approved repair, the diagnostic fee is applied toward the repair according to current company policy. This is a diagnostic visit — not a "free estimate."

Common AC Problems & Components

Any of these may be involved in a cooling problem — diagnosis determines which one is actually causing it.

Capacitor

A failed or weakening capacitor can prevent the fan or compressor from starting. Testing identifies whether it's the actual cause.

Contactor / Electrical

Pitted or sticking contactors and wiring faults can interrupt operation. Electrical components are tested as part of diagnosis.

Condenser Fan

A fan that won't run or runs erratically can affect heat rejection. Inspection determines whether the fan motor or a control is the issue.

Blower / Airflow

Weak airflow can come from a blower issue, a dirty filter, or a duct restriction. Airflow is measured, not guessed.

Thermostat / Controls

A thermostat or wiring fault can stop the system from starting or reaching setpoint. Controls are checked during the diagnostic.

Drainage

A clogged drain line can cause water around the indoor equipment and trip safety switches. The drain is inspected and cleared as needed.

Dirty / Restricted Coils

A dirty indoor or outdoor coil reduces cooling performance and can cause freezing. Coil condition is part of the evaluation.

Refrigerant Circuit

Low cooling can involve a refrigerant-circuit condition or a leak. Refrigerant work requires proper diagnosis — adding refrigerant alone doesn't fix an underlying leak.

Compressor

Compressor problems can stop cooling entirely. Testing determines whether the compressor or a control feeding it is the root cause.

What Happens During an AC Service Visit

1

You explain the concern

Tell us what you're seeing or hearing — symptoms and when they started.

2

We evaluate the system

The technician inspects the indoor and outdoor equipment and relevant controls.

3

Relevant tests are performed

Electrical, mechanical, refrigerant, and airflow conditions are tested as applicable to the symptom.

4

We identify the likely root cause

Findings are based on what the tests show — not a guess.

5

Findings and options are explained

We show you what we found and present clear repair or replacement options.

6

You receive repair investment info

Pricing is explained before any work begins.

7

Work proceeds only after your approval

Nothing is repaired or replaced until you say go.

Not every test applies to every job — the technician performs the checks relevant to your symptom and system.

What Happens After Diagnosis

Once the root cause is identified, we explain the findings in plain language and present your options — a specific repair, a repair with a replacement consideration, or, if the system supports it, a full replacement evaluation. You see the repair investment before any work begins, and nothing is repaired or replaced until you approve it.

Repair vs Replacement

We don't push replacement. When you're weighing it, we look at the system's condition, age, repair history, the current repair investment, reliability, comfort, efficiency, safety, and parts availability — then help you decide whether repair or replacement is the more reasonable investment for your home.

A single honest recommendation: repair when it makes sense, replace when the system's condition makes replacement the better long-term investment.

Compare Repair vs Replace

Factors We Consider

  • Equipment age
  • Current condition
  • Repair history
  • Current repair investment
  • Reliability
  • Comfort
  • Efficiency
  • Safety
  • Parts availability
  • Your long-term plans

Free Replacement Estimates

Complete HVAC system replacement estimates are free when the visit is specifically for gathering replacement information — evaluating your needs, taking pictures, and preparing a replacement proposal. That's different from a diagnostic visit, which addresses an existing system problem. Tell us which type of visit you need when you schedule.
