Heat-Pump Diagnosis, Not Guesswork
A heat pump symptom rarely points to one obvious part. "Not heating correctly" could be airflow, a control or thermostat-configuration issue, defrost behavior, the refrigerant circuit, or outdoor-unit operation — and sometimes several overlap.
We inspect and test the relevant parts of the system to determine the actual problem. We diagnose before we recommend — no guesswork, no symptom-to-component shortcuts, and no one-size-fits-all answer.
Diagnostic Service Fee — $75
Our current HVAC diagnostic/service fee is $75. The fee covers diagnosing the system, identifying the issue, and providing a repair estimate. If you proceed with the approved repair, the diagnostic fee is applied toward the repair according to current company policy. This is a diagnostic visit — not a "free estimate."
How a Heat Pump Works
A heat pump transfers heat rather than creating it the way a traditional furnace does. Depending on the mode and equipment, operation involves the indoor equipment, the outdoor unit, the refrigerant circuit, the controls, the thermostat, the airflow, and the mode selection — all working together in one system.
Because the same equipment serves both heating and cooling, a problem can show up in one mode, both modes, or only during heat-pump-specific behavior like defrost. That's why a professional diagnoses the actual condition rather than assuming a part from a symptom.

AC RepairDefrost Operation
Some frost on an outdoor coil can occur in appropriate conditions, and the system may periodically enter defrost. Excessive or persistent ice, abnormal operation, or heating problems may warrant professional evaluation. No manual bypass or unsafe ice removal.
Auxiliary / Emergency Heat
Auxiliary heat may operate as part of normal heat-pump logic depending on equipment, conditions, thermostat configuration, and system demand — it isn't automatically a failure. We don't recommend changing advanced installer settings without understanding your equipment.
Thermostat & Controls
Heat pumps are sensitive to correct thermostat configuration — compatibility, wiring, O/B settings, auxiliary and emergency heat, staging, and mode configuration. As a Google Nest Pro we handle compatibility, setup, and testing.
Google Nest ProAirflow / System Operation
Weak airflow, uneven rooms, or a system that runs but comfort doesn't improve. Several conditions can produce similar symptoms, so we inspect rather than automatically blaming the blower, the filter, or the ducts.
Electrical / Refrigerant-Circuit
Possible controls, wiring, capacitors/contactors, boards, relays, power or breaker symptoms — and refrigerant-circuit conditions. Poor heating or cooling can involve airflow, controls, electrical components, or refrigerant. We diagnose the actual condition — no DIY electrical or charging procedures, and no 'just recharge it' shortcut.
